TRAFFIC LIGHT IMPROVEMENT 40/ PEBBLE BEACH
We reported at our May 6, 2013 TVOCA meeting that the State Highway Administration has agreed to install a dedicated left turn signal for vehicles turning onto 40 East out of TVO. This has been a historically dangerous intersection for years. In a recent phone conversation with George Miller of the State Highway Administration, I was told that the new traffic signal should be install prior to September 24th. The work has been contracted out and the project should complete by the above date. A huge thank you to Kelli Livay, Carlee Run, for her commitment to pursue this effort and see it through to completion. Thanks again. Great job!
SEPTEMBER HOA MEETING
TVOCA has scheduled the September meeting for Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 7 pm to 9 pm in the Patapsco Room of the Miller Library. Some discussion items are volunteering opportunities, latest community news, tree maintenance, and fall activities. Get Involved – this is your neighborhood!!! Looking forward to seeing there.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
TVOCA is always looking to strengthen our stable of volunteers. We have vacancies for event chairs, block captains, and leadership positions. If you would like to explore what volunteering entails, please reach out to us.
SPEED LIMITS: SCHOOLS OPEN
Schools are now in session. We encourage each of you to be mindful of the school age kids as they maneuver to and from the bus stops. Obeying neighborhood speed limits are very important as well as being attentive when driving. The speed limit throughout TVO is 25 MPH.
It never fails that when we are rushing to get to our destinations, safety slips. Please be extra careful especially in the morning. Drive slowly in the neighborhood. Be attentive! Lets help our kids (and each other) be safe.
MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
THANKS to the 178 homes that remitted their dues. We appreciate your support.
Our membership drive has stalled at 56%. The relevance and strength of the HOA is directly correlated to its leadership and membership. We all play a major role in protecting our investments – our homes and neighborhood. We can assure the HOA’s strength by being good stewards to our community. Good stewardship means becoming involved and paying your dues.
If you are in the 44% that have not remitted your dues. It is OK! There is still time to do so. Our goal is to see this number consistently at 80% or higher. Help us reach our goals. Make your check payable to TVO1 HOA and send to:

LEAF RESPONSIBILITY
It seems premature to be writing about this in the September issue. However, as I walked the neighborhood, leaves are already falling from the trees. This situation will definitely get worse before it gets better. Here is a TVOCA Public Service Announcement:
Howard County is not responsible for leaf collection in TVO. This is a misconception that exists in the neighborhood. Each household is responsible for leaf clean up. Please do not blow leaves to the curb and leave them. The county street sweepers visited our neighborhood on August 30th and will not return until Spring 2014 – if we are lucky. The sweepers are not designed to pick up leaves. Sweeper operators will avoid areas containing an excessive amount of leaves.
Leaves can be disposed by taking them to the landfill and /or bagging them for pick up on Thursdays by the garbage truck. The best option is to recycle them at Alpha Ridge Landfill. They have a dedicated recycling area for leaf collection. Please be courteous by bagging your leaves and disposing of them properly.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL: THANK YOU
This year’s ice cream was attended by at least 100 people with neighborhood kids representing 60%. The summer months in TVO leaves everyone scattered due to vacations and summer camps. It was great to see old and new neighbors. Our neighborhood is constantly changing. It appeared that everyone had a great time. I know I did!
A special thanks to the event chairperson, Missy Haghgoo and to all of her volunteers. You are all superstars. Thanks for your efforts!
