PARK SCHEDULES CONTROLLED DEER HUNTS
Several Howard County parks will hold hunting hours in efforts to manage white-tailed deer populations in the county. This year’s hunts in David Force Natural Resource Area will be a combination of bow and shotgun, according to a county release, and hours will be from dawn until noon. Scheduled dates are Oct. 8; Oct. 29; Nov. 5; Nov. 26; Jan. 15
2013 MEMBERSHIP
Thank you to the 180 homes that have committed to the activities of the TVO I HOA. This equates to 57% of our total property owners. Your dues help the HOA maintain operations and support activities in the neighborhood. We are excited about our focus and commitment to the neighborhood. We encourage you to make your voice heard – get involved – stay involved.
LEAF RESPONSIBILITY
REMINDER: Howard County is not responsible for leaf collection in TVO 1. Each household is responsible for their own leaf clean-up. Leaves can be disposed of by taking them to the Alpha Ridge landfill and /or bagging them for County pick-up on Thursdays. Howard County encourages residents to use paper bags or reusable containers for yard trim. Plastic bags do not break down and actually reduce the quality of the composted material. You can pick up free paper yard trim bags at 6751 Columbia Gateway Drive, Suite 514 or Alpha Ridge Landfill, 2350 Marriottsville Rd. Please be courteous by bagging your leaves and disposing of them properly. Help keep our neighborhood streets and storm drains clear.
TREE ISSUES
We would like to ask each of you to report the locations in the neighborhood where the County trees are hanging too low and hitting ongoing traffic (especially school buses) or impede sidewalk access. We would like to send a list to the County for possible trimmings. Please send the information to Holly Ritter, rittholl@yahoo.com , by October 18.
RECAP: TVO HOA I SEPTEMBER MEETING
TVO HOA I held its September meeting at the Miller Library on September 24th. The meeting was well attended with over 20 households represented. Minutes from the meeting will be available soon. Some discussion topics were bylaws revision, leaf collection, resident and non-TVO resident memberships, traffic calming, TVO Directory, and the landscaping contract. Very importantly, Kirsten Willging offered to fill our vacant Board Secretary position and we are delighted to welcome her to the Board. Thank you for stepping up Kirsten!
HALLOWEEN PARADE
The Halloween Parade will be held on Wednesday, October 23. The parade will start at 7 pm on Dunes Drive and conclude on Congressional Court. The Marriott’s Ridge High School (MRHS) Marching Band and b.funk will provide entertainment. We expect to see all of the neighborhood ghosts, ghouls, and goblins for this event. Please clear all cars from the parade route according to the posted signs by the Howard County Police Department (HCPD).
Donations are accepted and will be presented to the music department at MRHS. The TVO I HOA, as usual, will reimburse MRHS for the transportation costs and provide donations to the HCPD and other contributors to the event. Many thanks to Kate and Kevin Powell for chairing this event for another year. Any questions can be directed to Kate/Kevin, kevinpowell410@gmail.com.
